Celebrate with us outstanding projects using ETICS
In order to mitigate climate change, countries around the globe signed the Paris Agreement back in 2015. To limit the global temperature increase to 1.5°C, max. 2°C, the European Union launched the Green Deal aiming to decarbonise its economy by 2050. With the Renovate2Recover and the REPowerEU initiatives Europe addresses a huge leverage to strengthen energy security by reducing the energy demand whilst easing the shift from fossil fuels to renewables. In parallel, the Renovation Wave will release huge investments into a greener future, helping to boost national economies and preserving domestic value chains and employment.
Buildings play a crucial role. Europe‘s building stock accounts for 36% CO2 emissions and 40% of energy demand. It offers a huge leverage to contribute not only to environmental protection, but also to good health, living comfort and economic growth. This requires that all new buildings comply already with the nZEB and the zero-emission standard as they will not undergo major renovation before 2050. Even more important: without significantly increasing renovation rates and renovation depths of our current building stock, Europe will fail to achieve its ambitions and miss opportunities.
The EAE Awards demonstrate that energy-efficient buildings and superb architecture go hand in hand.We reward and showcase innovative technical, sustainable, and aesthetical solutions. Awarded projects will be used to further promote the benefits of energy-efficient facades. Transforming theory into real buildings will help to accelerate the urgently needed market uptake and motivate building owners recognize the full benefits of thermally improved façades.
Energy Efficiency meets Architecture
This was the motto of EAE’s high-level event at the heart of European decision-making! The EAE Awards 2023/2024 Celebration took place on Wednesday, 22 May 2024 in Brussels/Belgium at the THON Hotel EU, bringing together around 70 experts from 10 EU member states, the United Kingdom and Türkiye. Among our guests we could welcome architects, consultants, energy efficiency consultants, European Commission, project developers, ETICS manufacturers and their leading suppliers.
The first session of the event was dedicated to the current and future framework conditions of the building sector with specific view on energy-efficient construction and renovation and latest political initiatives at European level. In this session the new study “Energy Efficiency Guide 2024 – A true Renovation Wave for a Sustainable Future” as developed by FIW München was unveiled.
The second session was dedicated to the EAE Awards 2023/2024 celebrations. Celebrations started with a greeting note by Ruth Schagemann, President of the Architects Council of Europe. The awarding ceremony was moderated by architect Niko Wouters, winner of the EAE Awards 2021, and Ardian Joyce, Renovate Europe Campaign. They presented all 14 short-listed projects as nominated by the jury out of 56 applications received from 14 countries. Five projects, both new built and renovations, received the prestigious EAE Awards. Two additional ones were honored with special mentions. Nominees and winners are presented here.
The program of the EAE Awards 2023/2024 comprised the following high-level speakers and topics and was followed by a cocktail reception and a festive dinner. Presentations shown are available for download as far as available.
