The BAU 2025 again underlined its position as a leading global exhibition for the construction sector. Even more, it turned out to be a kind of an EAE family meeting as EAE Managing Director Ralf Pasker experienced.

He took the opportunity to meet with numerous exhibiting EAE extraordinary company members at their booths. There he learnt about the latest innovations and services offered. Even more: the exhibition in Munich/Germany also brought together many more EAE members as visitor.

Finally, the visit turned out to be a perfect opportunity to exchange with both exhibitors and visitors about recent developments in the sector, the opportunities as well as the threats from the perspective of the ETICS manufacturers and their suppliers. In general, a positive mood could be observed despite the current concerns about declining markets in some relevant European countries. On the other hand, other countries show a stable performance or even increases.

Some key takeaways from the various talks:

  • To lever the full potential of building renovation EAE members requested from political decision makers in the European Parliament and the European Commission reliable framework conditions and pathways. Industry is committed to the EU2050 objectives. Stop-and-go policymaking as observed in several EU member states leads to uncertainty and blocks urgently needed investments alongside the entire construction value chain. It is visible that in member states with predictable framework conditions thermal renovation rates of building envelopes are higher and stable whereas we experience sharp declines in countries lacking such reliability. But reliable framework conditions for energy-efficiency renovations and new constructions are key to lever the necessary investments alongside the entire construction value chain.
  • EAE members appreciate the just cited revision of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR), the ongoing CPR technical acquis process involving ETICS and the harmonization of technical specifications to strengthen the Single Market and to lower burden for the industry. It will shape the future of the ETICS sector and EAE will engage its members to provide guidance.
  • The national implementation of the revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED), which established efficiency first as the guiding principle for measures to be implemented in national action plans. EAE and its members will engage in the national implementation now that member states are requested by the European Commission to submit their national renovation strategies by the end of 2025.

Many thanks to all our members for the inspiring and encouraging exchanges and your hospitality!
